Wavecast
The agreement

Terms and conditions

What you can expect from Wavecast, and what it expects from you. There is deliberately not much of it.

What Wavecast is

Wavecast is a coordination tool for people recording a podcast together: a shared running order, a shared clock, and a log of what happened, with shows, episodes and a calendar for anybody who makes an account. It never records audio or video, and it never touches your media. You record wherever you already record, and Wavecast holds the timings beside it. The only files anybody uploads to it are pictures: a show’s artwork and background, and a person’s own picture.

No warranty, and no guarantee of service

The software is provided as it is, with no warranty of any kind, express or implied — including any warranty that it is fit for a particular purpose, available, secure or free of errors. No guarantee or warranty is given for any data uploaded to Wavecast or written into it, or for any data lost in the course of using it — accounts, shows, episodes, running orders, logs, records and pictures alike. Do not rely on it as the only record of anything you care about: take the log away when a session ends, and keep your own copy of anything you upload.

Accounts and data may be deleted at any time

Any account, and any data Wavecast holds — shows, episodes, running orders, records, pictures and anything else — may be suspended, changed or deleted at any time, for any reason or none, and without notice. While the software is in alpha that includes the operator clearing the service to fix a fault, to change how something is stored, or to remove something that breaks these terms. Nothing is owed for anything removed.

Your side of it

You are responsible for what you and your guests put into a room, for anything you write about other people — a guest’s name and details on the Planning screen included — and for having whatever permission you need from the people you are recording. Wavecast collects a recording consent from invited guests, but that is a record of what they were told, not legal cover for you. Do not use Wavecast to break the law, to harass anyone, or to attack the service or the people using it. Keep your own account credentials to yourself.

Pictures you upload

You may upload artwork and a background for a show, and a picture of yourself. Upload only images you own or have permission to use, and nothing unlawful, hateful or sexual, or that infringes anybody’s rights. You keep whatever rights you have in them, and allow Wavecast to store them and show them to whoever the app shows them to — a show’s members, and everybody in a room with you, guests included. Every uploaded file is visible to the site’s administrators, who can review and delete it, and ban the account that uploaded it, at any time and without notice.

What other people upload

Pictures and words are put into Wavecast by the people using it, not by its operator, and nothing is reviewed before it appears. Wavecast and its operator are not responsible for images or any other content uploaded by other users. If you believe something here uses your copyrighted work without permission, or is otherwise unlawful, contact support at william@wo.dev saying where you saw it and what it is, and it will be looked at and removed where appropriate.

Suggested topics

Where a deployment offers it, the Suggest press on the Planning screen asks an AI model for topics to discuss. What comes back is written by a machine: it may be inaccurate, unoriginal or unsuitable, and it is a starting point only. Check anything before you say it on air. Nothing is added to a running order unless somebody adds it.

Accounts

You can delete your account at any time from the account page, and doing so deletes the shows and episodes you are the last owner of. An account may be suspended, banned or removed where it is used to break these terms or the law, or at the operator’s discretion; a banned account is signed out everywhere and refused at every way in. Signed recording consents are the one thing a deletion does not reach: they are evidence that a person agreed to be recorded, and the party who collected one does not get to make it disappear.

Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Wavecast and its operator are not liable for any loss arising from your use of it — including a deleted account, lost or deleted data, lost pictures, lost recordings, lost running orders, lost time, content uploaded by somebody else, or a session that did not go the way it should have. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Changes

These terms may change as the software does, and the date at the top of this page says when they last did. The version you agreed to is recorded against your account. Carrying on using Wavecast after a change means accepting the terms as they then stand; if you do not accept them, delete your account.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute about them.

Questions about any of this, a request about your data, or a notice about something somebody uploaded can go to william@wo.dev.
