Wavecast
What’s new

Changelog

Every change to Wavecast you could notice, newest first, back to the day it began.

  • ChangedSuggested topics are specific - a particular film, person, event or question rather than a broad area - with a title that says what the conversation is on its own, and they take the episode’s brief and its running order into account, so nothing already planned comes back.
  • AddedA link to an episode’s room asks you to sign in first - by password, Google or a new account - and then opens that room; signed in, it opens the room straight away. Without an account, the sign-in page offers the room’s PIN instead.
  • ChangedA planned guest’s invite link is copied from Preshow, whose Guests section lists each guest by name, opens on what the hosts wrote about them and copies their own single-use link; guests are still added, edited and removed on Planning.

  • ChangedThe ideas board checks again every fifteen seconds, so other members’ votes appear without reloading.
  • ChangedTags changed in a room reach every host in it at once.
  • ChangedStudio shows your private notes from your account, those on points included.
  • AddedA guest’s row has a menu to edit them, remove them or copy their invite link.
  • ChangedA guest is shown no notes in Studio.
  • ChangedThe Worth a mark reaction is gone, leaving five reactions on keys 1 to 5.

  • FixedA right click in a running-order title or its details opens the browser’s own menu again, with copy, paste and spelling; anywhere else on the line it still opens the line’s menu.
  • ChangedThe front page shows the app itself: photographs of a real episode being recorded, in English and Japanese - Studio at a desk and on a phone, the room’s four screens, its running order, clock, people and log up close, and a month of three shows on one calendar.

  • AddedThe calendar moves with you: a month turns in from the side you stepped towards, an episode picked up hangs from the pointer and straightens over a day it can land on, and it settles into its new square when it is put down.
  • AddedOn the board, cards rise into their lane and lift a touch under the pointer, a lane lights up as a card is held over it, and voting for an idea makes its arrow hop and its count roll.
  • AddedSmall touches across the app: ticking a point pops its check and fades its line through, suggested topics are dealt out one by one, the reactions’ faces wiggle as you pick, an Archived episode’s figures arrive one after another, and Saved confirms with a tick. None of it plays if you have asked for less motion.
  • ChangedThe early alpha notice is no longer shown once you are signed in; visitors and guests still see it.
  • ChangedOn Planning the episode stands beside the running order, always in view - its title, brief, dates, who can make it, guests and Mark ready in the last third of a window-wide screen - rather than in tabs or behind a press.
  • ChangedSuggested topics are asked for from Suggest topics… beside Add a break, and come out in a sheet of their own that keeps them while it is shut; carrying one out puts the sheet away so it drops straight into the order.
  • NewA show opens on its home: the next recording with its guests, the next release, what still needs editing, and a way into each of its pages.
  • FixedMoving an episode on the calendar, or taking its date off from the board, works while somebody is in its room, and everybody there sees the date change.
  • ChangedA card on the board and a line of the running order open their menu with a right click, a long press or Shift+F10, rather than from a “…” on each one.
  • ChangedEach lane of the board keeps its search behind a magnifying glass, which clears the search when it closes, and the Ideas lane jots a new one from a + beside it.
  • ChangedEvery page and screen keeps the same, narrower margin at its sides, in line with the space inside its columns.
  • AddedAn episode on the board can go back from Scheduled to Planning, taking its dates off, or from Planning or Scheduled back to Ideas, keeping its title and brief - each asking first and saying what will be lost.
  • AddedEach lane of the board has a search of its own, and its cards scroll beneath a head that stays put, with more arriving as you go.
  • AddedThe help explains how an episode moves from an idea to edited, and what each step on the board means.
  • ChangedThe board is reached from Show board in the drawer, under Show calendar, rather than a switch above the calendar.
  • FixedA point’s note mark and its stances can be pressed again, and no longer slide away from under the pointer.

  • NewThe calendar can be read as a board: lanes of Ideas, Planning, Scheduled, Ready, Unedited and Edited, with a card moved by dragging it or from its menu, and ideas that become episodes only when moved into Planning.
  • NewMembers can vote for the ideas they want made, and the backlog puts the most wanted first.
  • NewAn episode whose recording slot went by, or whose edit is a fortnight late, is flagged on the calendar and the board, and a Needs attention reading gathers them.
  • NewEpisodes can be tagged, with the show’s tags suggested as you type, and the calendar can be narrowed to one tag or searched by tag.
  • NewA show’s settings list every tag in use with how many episodes carry it, and any member can rename one - merging it into another - or remove it from every episode.
  • AddedAn Archived episode can carry a link to its edit, which marks it Edited rather than Unedited.

  • ChangedSuggested topics come back one level deep - a title and a line each, with nothing nested under them; a show can set a prompt of its own for them in its settings; and the admin section shows what each show has spent on them, to date and by month.
  • NewThis help section and changelog, and terms, privacy and cookies policies brought up to date with uploads, administrators, suggested topics and calendar subscriptions.
  • NewSound cues for everything that happens in a room, heard for your own presses and everybody else’s, with a Sounds switch on the actions strip and a preference for whether rooms start with them on.
  • NewAdministrators can review every uploaded picture with who put it up, delete it, and ban the account behind it.
  • NewEach show has a Consents page where any host can read, and download, the recording consents its guests signed.
  • ChangedA break started from Producer no longer finishes the topic it interrupts; End break carries on with it.
  • ChangedOn Studio a glyph springs from a person’s dot as they raise a hand, ask for a break, step away or say they are ready.
  • ChangedStudio is quieter, with a smaller clock, and its actions strip is a row of labelled tiles.
  • ChangedPreshow closes once recording starts, and everybody but the producer moves to Studio.
  • ChangedNext topic, Next point, the ready check, Start session and Back to planning are on Producer alone.
  • ChangedEach person gives their own hard stop among their checks, and the earliest becomes the show’s, counted down on Producer.
  • FixedRooms started from the front page can be joined while the database is down, and Google and emailed sign-in links give up rather than hang.

  • NewSuggested topics on Planning, generated by AI from the episode’s title and dragged into the running order by hand.
  • NewA show can choose a default template that every new episode starts with.
  • NewPress a day on the calendar to plan an episode on it.
  • AddedThe running order is a full outliner: any topic or point under any other at any depth, with arrows to move a line in or out.
  • AddedA topic can be put under another as one of its points.
  • AddedAn admin section for managing users, shows and episodes.
  • AddedGuests can be written down on Planning, each with a name and details.
  • ChangedThe show’s square at the start of the bar opens a drawer with the show’s pages and the episode’s presses, replacing the banner across the top.
  • ChangedThe calendar fills the window at a desk, with its readings in a dropdown beside the search.
  • FixedA topic’s points fold away from a chevron at the head of its row.

  • AddedSearch the calendar by episode title, and plan a new episode straight from a search.
  • ChangedPlanning an episode from a show asks for its title in a small dialog.
  • FixedA round of security fixes: PIN lockouts per address rather than per room, guest links bound to one session, uploaded pictures checked, limits on the size of a running order, and a new PIN whenever somebody leaves a show.

  • NewTerms and conditions, a privacy policy and a cookies policy, agreed to at sign-up.
  • NewKeyboard shortcuts, with the full list on ? and a command palette on ⌘K or Ctrl+K.
  • NewReactions: six emoji thrown at the room from a tray or by key.
  • NewAn early-alpha notice above every page, which can be put away.
  • AddedEvery page is served with a content security policy, and camera and microphone access is refused outright.
  • ChangedA row somebody else moved slides to its new place.
  • FixedA seventh person is told the room is full.

  • ChangedA show’s settings are four panels: General, Artwork, Links and Subscription.
  • ChangedRecordings, releases and both together are three separate calendar subscriptions.
  • ChangedA show’s settings name who owns it.

  • NewDrag an episode to another day on the calendar, or from the list onto a day.
  • NewShows can have artwork and a background, cropped and resized in the browser before upload.

  • AddedPreferences, and the language, follow you to any machine you sign in on.
  • ChangedMarking the plan ready closes Planning, and Back to planning opens it again.

  • AddedStudio signals a raised hand, somebody away and a break asked for from the edges of the screen.
  • ChangedThe running order is dragged as an outline, with a line showing where a row will land.
  • ChangedWhile an episode is being planned, the clock times beside the running order are read from its recording date.

  • NewPoints can be written under other points.

  • ChangedA downloaded running order is named after the show, the episode and when it was taken.

  • NewA line of details under any topic or point, and a topic’s points uploaded from a CSV spreadsheet.
  • ChangedMembers walk straight into their own episode’s room, and an episode not yet ready opens on Planning alone.

  • ChangedAn episode is planned in its own room, its title, date and brief live for everybody in it.

  • NewThe room becomes four screens in the order an episode happens: Planning, Preshow, Studio and Producer.
  • ChangedThe calendar sets a list beside the month, with Planning, Unscheduled, Scheduled and Past readings.

  • FixedSomebody alone in a room can say they are ready, and status rings read clearly in colour.

  • NewNotes on any topic or point: the briefing behind a line, read in a side panel.
  • ChangedThe things you say about yourself — a hand up, ready, stepping away, asking for a break — gathered into one strip along the bottom of every screen.
  • ChangedThe invite link, saved agendas, guest invitations and PIN gathered behind one menu.
  • ChangedAsking for a break is a request anybody can make; a host starts the break.

  • ChangedEverybody is given a colour of their own on arrival, and a mark can be labelled afterwards in the log.
